The instantly recognizable and highly reflective Rolex fluted bezel - which watch is your favorite? What’s your favorite Rolex bezel type?
The fluted bezel from Rolex was first introduced all the way back in 1926, originally designed to be a vital part of Rolex’s waterproofing mechanism at the time. The bezel was able to be screwed down against Rolex’s Oyster case structure, thus sealing the internal mechanisms from outside water. Eventually, as technology improved, the fluted bezel was no longer needed for Rolex’s waterproofing but remained an iconic part of Rolex’s aesthetic. The bezel today is usually always made in some form of gold, which makes the bezel have a different sheen compared to stainless steel. Which watch featuring the fluted bezel is your favorite? Do you prefer smooth or textured bezels?
