Price Guide: Tudor Black Bay Special Editions

Black Bay Special Editions

As a tribute to the All Blacks’ (New Zealand’s national rugby team) championship at the Rugby World Cup 2019, Tudor released an all-black version of the Black Bay Chrono. The watch is currently limited to around 1,200 pieces, with one new piece produced for each player ever to have played for the All Blacks. The watch combines Tudor’s famous Black Bay styling with an added chronograph function. It is PVD coated to fit the styling of the team it celebrates.

Lucerne-based Bucherer is one of the oldest shops in the watchmaking industry. In 2018, the shop worked with Tudor to release the Heritage Black Bay Bronze Blue to celebrate its 130th birthday. The bezel and dial use Bucherer’s particular shade of blue, while the case is made of bronze. The watch can only be purchased exclusively through Bucherer.

When Tudor began upgrading the Black Bay collection in 2016 to use their new in-house movements, they also released a special edition in collaboration with British luxury department store Harrods, the 79230G. The watch used Harrods’ iconic green color for the bezel, depth rating dial inscription, and tip of the seconds hand. The depth rating also uses feet before meters to emphasize Harrods’ British heritage. As you might also expect, the watch can only be purchased at retail through Harrods, making it more desirable and expensive outside of Europe.
